  • Is there a walking club at your school? Band? A sports team? Any school group that wants to participate as a team is eligible for a special registration rate for the Jingle Bell Run! Registration will include shirts, bibs and, for those that register before November 20th will have their race packets pulled as a group for early pick-up. Forward the registration form to your group today and kick-off the holiday season with fun and exercise at the same time.

  • PORT HURON, Mich. – St. Clair County Community College is offering a Financial Aid Night event for students looking for money to attend college, no matter what school they are considering.

    The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, on SC4’s Port Huron campus.

  • Looking for just the right time to start training for your first 5K? Now is the time!!! Our Couch to 5K class begins October 11th. Start off on the right foot by working out 3 times a week, beginning with walking and working up to running 3 miles or more. Graduation is at the finish line of the Y's Jingle Bell run on December 3. Classes include warm up, core fitness, walking, running, stretching and cool down and entry into the run - because whatever you are now, you become a runner when you get your first race number. The running portion will be outside so dress appropriately.

  • A two day dig at the Fort Gratiot Light Station will be taking place this weekend. Students from CMU will participate in an Archaeological Survey Oct. 1-2 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and are open to the public for observation.

  • On Monday, Oct. 3, the Harlem Wizards will play SC4 and Community All-Stars at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Grand Opening festivities for the SC4 Fieldhouse. Our very own Calvin Bassil in show off his skills against the Hatlem Wizards. Calvin played baseball at SC4 and Western Illinois University, and is teaching many of the community’s youth the fundamentals of several sports. Watch out, Wizards, he’s probably going to be pretty good. Visit to get your tickets for the game!

  • It is never to late to start your fitness journey, join us to learn about all the wonderful opportunities the YMCA has to offer for staying fit on land and in the water. Event will be held Friday, September 23rd from 9:00 AM - Noon. Already a YMCA regular, bring a friend to the event and show them all the fun you can have as you Discover Your Y!

  • Donate a piece of new or gently used school clothing for a child or teen during the month of September and you will receive a $10 class voucher. You’ll be helping kids get ready for school and we’ll be helping you get healthy.

    Clean out those closets or make a purchase and drop the clothing off at the Y. All clothing items will be given to Kids in Distress Services, Inc. KIDS is a 501(c)3 organization that provides clothing, toiletries and school supplies to children in need.

    The following items are most needed, but all donations will be appreciated:
    Socks & underwear (NEW ONLY)
    Jeans - especially boys size 4 - 8
    Pajamas - all sizes from infant up
    Shoes - all sizes - new or very gently used

  • The Porpoise Club is an introduction to competitive swimming for 6 to 18 year olds, providing the
    experience of being part of a team and their practices. Porpoise club focuses on competitive skills without the full commitment of a
    competitive swim team. It will help members prepare for future swim team participation.

  • First Place 4 Health is a Bible-based program that focuses on health and total well-being. Participants will learn how to make positive changes in the way they nourish and recharge their body with food and exercise. Daily Bible studies will be used to address their daily choices.

    An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, September 1st at 6:00 PM. Stop by to learn about the program, get your questions answered and register for the fall session.

    Come join us for our annual Mutt-ster Mash 5K & 2K Run/Walk here at the YMCA. The event will take place October 15, 2016 Beginning at 9:00 AM. Each participant will receive a Doggy Bag consisting of a race t-shirt, dog tag for their K9, and information regarding partnering organizations. We will also be offering refreshments and prizes for various categories at the event (I.E. Best Dressed Duo).
    $20 - Early Registration before October 2nd
    $30 - Starting October 3rd

    Mixed Up Holidays week has spilled over from Camp Wanacombak. Christmas has come early for our group exercise program. 12 new spin bikes were delivered today! The Intervalocity class had the opportunity to try them out during today's class.

  • Meet Up and Eat Up
    The YMCA will be a host site for the Meet Up and Eat Up program. Facilitated by the Port Huron Area School District in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Education, The Summer Food Service Program was created to ensure that children in lower-income areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations, when they do not have access to the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs. Monday - Friday, June 20th - September 2nd

    Come out and support your favorite trainer at the YMCA first Trainer Games Event.

    Trainer Games is not your typical fitness event; it incorporates teamwork, training and tenacity. Designed to be challenging and fun, teams will compete in a variety of games to test their strength, teamwork and training. Join us this Sunday, May 15th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

  • Each May, on a designated date and time, millions of school children all over the globe exercise simultaneously in a symbolic gesture of fitness. Today the children in Child Care participated in the 28th annual Project ACES event.

  • The Port Huron Area School District is the largest district in the Blue Water Area but it receives the lowest amount of funding from the people it serves. The most important question is “is it worth the cost?” The Board of Directors of the YMCA voted to endorse the proposal and encourages a yes vote on May 3rd.

  • “WOW” Kids make a “Wow” world! Join us April 30 for Healthy Kids Day! Stop by for lots of FREE activities from 10 am - 1 pm. Activities include Camp Wanacombak, floor hockey, local vendors and more!

  • Healthy Kids Day 2016

    Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain weight and fall behind in studies. On April 30th, the Y will celebrate Healthy Kids Day®, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids.

  • Tryouts for the Boys AAU Travel Team, the Timberwolves, will be Tuesday, April 12 at 4:30 PM. It will also be a great opportunity to meet the team's head coach, Richard Field. Contact Calvin Bassil, for more information.

  • Step by step, day after day, you walk to make progress. Every day we take thousands of steps to get where we need to go. Now we can take steps toward a healthier lifestyle and support the American Heart Association. Today, Wednesday April 6th, the YMCA of the Blue Water Area joins the American Heart Association in celebrating National Walking Day. It's a day to challenge ourselves and our nation to get heart healthy and fit.

  • DEADLINE EXTENDED! Get your friends, family or co-workers to form a team and sign up today. The 2016 Walking Club will kick off on April 6 - National Walking Day. Each walking group must have at least 5 to 10 participants and must walk a minimum of 30 minutes three to five days a week for 6 to 8 weeks. All participants will receive health information on the benefits of walking as well as information on events in our area via email. Following completion of the 8 weeks of walking all participants will receive a free Family Day Pass at the Y.
