The Port Huron Area School District is the largest district in the Blue Water Area but it receives the lowest amount of funding from the people it serves. The most important question is “is it worth the cost?” The Board of Directors of the YMCA voted to endorse the proposal and encourages a yes vote on May 3rd.

In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain weight and fall behind in studies. Today, Wednesday April 6th, the YMCA of the Blue Water Area joins the American Heart Association in celebrating National Walking Day. It's a day to challenge ourselves and our nation to get heart healthy and fit.

DEADLINE EXTENDED! Get your friends, family or co-workers to form a team and sign up today. The 2016 Walking Club will kick off on April 6 - National Walking Day. Each walking group must have at least 5 to 10 participants and must walk a minimum of 30 minutes three to five days a week for 6 to 8 weeks. All participants will receive health information on the benefits of walking as well as information on events in our area via email. Following completion of the 8 weeks of walking all participants will receive a free Family Day Pass at the Y.

When school is out, camp is in at the Y! Join us during school holidays and snow days for fun games and activities that are sure to keep kids having fun and learning along the way. They'll have the opportunity to make new friends and engage in indoor and outdoor activities in a safe, positive environment.
Thanksgiving Holiday Camp will be held on Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27. Holiday Camp and Snow Fun Days are open to students kindergarten through 6th grade and you do not need to be a member of the Y to enjoy camp.

KIDS NIGHT OUT
Kids under 12 are invited to Kids Night Out at the Y on Friday, November 20 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Make new friends while playing games, making crafts and participating in fun age-appropriate activities. Everyone receives a light snack and swim time is included for all school age children. Veterans Day is a time when we honor those who have served in the United States Military and their families. On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, take a moment to express gratitude to those who have made great sacrifices to preserve our freedom.
In honor of Veterans Day, the YMCA Active Older Adults (AOA) will be meeting at the Lakeside Cemetery at 11:00 AM for a brief memorial service. They will meet for lunch at Big Boy after the service. Guests pay for their own lunch and everyone is welcome.

This Saturday, August 22nd from 12:00 - 2:00 PM here at the Y. Come get muddy at the Y! Puddle Paw is a kid’s outdoor obstacle course. This fun and energetic event, specifically designed for youth, includes a slip and slide, run, mud pits, and lots of other fun obstacles. Kids will be competing against children of their own age group.

June 29 - July 3 Celebrate - Party Time! Hop the Gap Games as well as music and a BBQ on Friday. Members are invited to a BBQ on the front lawn on Friday - don't forget to wear your Red, White and Blue!
July 6 - 10 Shooting for the Stars - It’s Sci-Fi Week! Popcorn and movie Friday and don’t forget to dress up as your favorite Star Wars character!
July 13 - 17 Superheroes - Who’s YOUR hero? We’ll find out this week because we will have slips at the Welcome Center for members, volunteers and staff to tell us their superhero and why they are so important, and we will be posting them throughout the Y. On Friday, dress up as your favorite superhero.
July 20 - 24 Color Wars - We’ll be hosting family color wars this week so be ready to declare your favorite color.
July 27 - 31 Construction - It’s Maintenance Week and we are in heading into the “Caution: Y Fun Zone.” This week it is all about volunteering with two cookouts - one on Tuesday and one on Friday.
August 3 - 7 Artful Antics - Studio 1219 and some college are students will be invited to the Y and we will display art projects from children as well as featuring crafts in the building.
August 10 - 14 Mystery Week - We are organizing a Scavenger Hunt for members, volunteers and staff. A fun and mysterious week for sure!
August 17 - 21 Let It Snow - On Friday we will have Christmas music and Santa hats as well as holiday decorations and snow cones. This week will also kick off our annual KIDS campaign.
August 24 - 28 Movin’ and Groovin’ - Everything from the pool party to the music will be all about the 60’s. Time to get your groove on! August 31 - Sept 4 Best of the Best - Wrapping up our summer of Fun Fridays and special events, we will post photos of some of the events of the summer and relive the Best Summer Ever!
