Back to School 2010
The Women’s Initiative of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County needs your help to provide 3,300 backpacks filled with school supplies to low income kids in Saint Clair County. Did you know it only takes $13.00 to help one child have the supplies they need to begin school?
Here’s how you can help:- Donate school supplies at the Y during the month of July. Supplies needed include 24-pack crayons, 12-pack colored pencils, 8-pack washable markers, 12-pack #2 black pencils, 12-pack blue or black pens, lined paper (wide ruled and college ruled), and boxes of tissues.
- Make a cash donation to help purchase supplies. For credit card donations visit www.stclairfoundation.org and click on "Give to Your Community".
- Donate new and gently used school clothing at the Salvation Army Thrift Store located at 729 Howard Street in Port Huron.
Digital Photography
Ever wish that you could take a flawless picture every time? Here’s your chance! Instructor Paul Cannon will show you how to use unleash the full potential of your camera to produce quality photos. Many practical tips will be included, as well as a workbook that follows the course in detail. Bring your camera and manual for hands on experience.

Photoshop Elements 8
Create pictures that look like they were taken by a professional. Instructor Paul Cannon will show you how to use Photoshop Elements 8 and its many tools to the fullest. Subjects covered include downloading, storing, cropping, sizing to print or web media, and removing/adding items. You are encouraged to bring your laptop computer with Photoshop Elements 8 already installed.

Advanced Photography/Editing
If you have taken the basic class or have some knowledge of digital photography/ editing and want to improve your skills, this class is for you. An instructional workbook and DVD is included. Bring your laptop, camera, photos and/or projects. Instructor Paul Cannon will provide individual instruction and help you improve your images.

Y Wee Care1 1/2 - 3 year old children with their parent, grandparent or caregiver will have fun developing social and language skills through group circle, singing songs and interacting with children. Children develop creative skills and large motor skills through craft projects, games, tumble town and much more! Kids Night Out!Children in K - 5th grades are invited to come to the YMCA for an evening of swimming, sports, games and FUN! Participants will be supervised by YMCA staff and given a snack while they enjoy an evening of new friends and new games. Children must bring swimsuit and towel, and wear clothes to play in. Register early - space is limited!

Bus with GusThis ever popular program is for children in 1st - 5th grades interested in after school fun. The program consists of supervised swim time and fun in the gym. Gym activities stress non-competitive games, teamwork and FUN! A light snack will be offered to all participants. Transportation to and from school will be provided. Registration forms will be distributed through the schools, so keep an eye out for flyers to be sent home with your elementary students for your chance to participate! Driver's TrainingBlue Water Driving School offers adult and teen driver education classes at the YMCA that are designed for the convenience of the student driver. The Behind-the-Wheel element of the program is personalized and sensitive to the needs and skill level of each individual. Blue Water Driving School is committed to providing exceptional driver education in a safe, friendly classroom environment at the lowest possible cost. Home School Gym and Swim Program A great way for home-schooled children to get their gym credit during the school year and make new friends. This program is open to all children in 1st - 12th grade. Children must be 6 years old to participate. Children are divided up during gym time into different groups according to age.

Water SafetyThis program, which began in 1984, offers the opportunity to each 4th grade class in the PHASD and area parochial schools to come to the YMCA for a 45-minute classroom presentation and an hour water safety lesson in the pool. This program runs throughout the school year and is sponsored by the
Noon Optimist Club.
