BW Otters Make it to State Competition

The Blue Water YMCA is proud to announce that 12 area swimmers from the Blue Water Otters (BWO) qualified to compete in State Competitions. The goal of the BWO Team is to teach competitive swimming techniques and Y core values, to develop self-esteem, and to meet new friends and have fun.

This year, Alex Hofmann (7), Cam Johnson (7), Kymari Hajarie (7) and Johnathon Ruiz (8) qualified to compete at the 8 and Under State Swim Meet held Feb. 16, 2019 held at Northview High School in Grand Rapids. They competed against other YMCA swim teams from all over the state of Michigan. The results:

·       The 8 and under boys took 4th in the state!!

·       8 and under boys - Johnathon Ruiz: 4th 25 breast; 6th 25 free; 8th 50 free

·       7 and under boys - Kymari Hajarie: 8th 25 free and Cam Johnson: 2nd 50 free; 3rd 100 IM; 5th 25 breast

Charlotte O’Brien (11), Hannah Bockhausen (13), Keylee Kellogg (13), Lina Baldwin (14), Drew Hofmann (11), Kevony Hajarie (11), Sena Baldwin (10) and Stephen Ruiz (10) will compete March 2-3, 2019 at the 9 and Over YMCA State Meet at Waterford Mott High School.  

Stephen Ruiz (10) will also represent the Otters at the Michigan USA 12 and Under State Swim Meet March 8-10 at Jenison High School. Stephen Ruiz (10) will also go on to represent the Otters at the Great Lake Zone YMCA Swimming Championship to be held March 15-17 at The Ohio State University.
